Attention Mac user designer types! Don't disable the font "MarkerFelt" until you have selected another from within Mac Mail/Preferences/Fonts & Colors. Continue reading →

Okay, so the “Notes” program in Mail isn’t the greatest, but it syncs up on iPhone. So I use it for all the weird things that don’t really fit or belong in “Things”.

For months it has been acting weird on the desktop side. Notes would not load. New notes would not be made. Yesterday, ran through some pretty standard tests with Mac tech support. While waiting for my machine to restart I asked if there was a way to change the font within “Notes” since ”MarkerFelt” is a suckfest of readability and just plain goofy.

Dude says, yes, it is within preferences/fonts & colors.

So I sneak there once the machine is back up and low and behold….. NO ENTRY in the “Note font” text box! Also unable to select another font. Hrmmmm, says I.

Then it hit me. I turned that crap font off with FontExplorer.

Turned it back on and voila! Notes in “Notes” load and new ones can be created. Then I was able to select a new font to replace “MarkerFelt”.

As a side note, this may have also solved a performance issue with mouse/cursor lag time issues.

Not sure what the hell is going on, but Apple has had our second application for joining their developer program in limbo for two and a half weeks.

Since the app we are starting our venture off with is summer oriented, we are really, really starting to get frustrated and are chomping at the bit.

We signed up under Keston’s business, Fauxmachine LLC in order to expedite things – Stone Gears LLC was not yet decided on as a name at the time. Figuring switching out the name later wouldn’t be that big of a deal, we went ahead in order to be able to dev and distribute betas. That was a big mistake. We waited for weeks for Apple Legal make the switch.

Finally the Developer Help line people suggested just applying from scratch under the new LLC. Now we are into 2.5 weeks with that process.

What GIVES Apple Legal? You are going to kill our business before it even starts. Then we have to wait for the app to get approved too. Sheesh.

Lessons:

1. Have seasonal based products in the bag and ready to rumble at least a season before
2. Don’t EVER plan on switching anything in your developer enrollment at Apple. EVER.
